The Light Has Come

And you came into view.

Your streaked chestnut hair

moved in grace and calm.

You were ready to embrace

the world with solid arms.

Your eyes glistened with gold

and stole a glimpse to touch mine.

I only realize now

that you are a rare gem to find.

Your smile followed me,

and I couldn’t help but smile back.

There was no doubt in being open;

all we had to do was ask.

What we saw in each other

could not be replaced.

We mirrored what was there

and stood face-to-face.

The vibrancy of tempered fun

ebbed with the books.

I trembled as you trembled

when we stole each other looks.

A shy demeanor continued

to veil my curious heart.

What was mine, what was yours,

I sometimes couldn’t set apart.

When we sat in silence,

the world stood still.

It felt comfortable, yet scary,

and sent a warm chill.
