The Lecture

A Stream of Consciousness

Hold yourself together

So you don’t explode

Inside of you is a universe

Constantly expanding

Be gentle with yourself

Damned with faint praise

The cursed liturgy of writers

What if kind comments

Are not derision

Instead they are

A soft place to land

Like books, art and music

People are the most interesting

When they are complex

Notice the hierarchy

Set it aside

Now you are interesting

Who you love

What you make

Suffering is a story you tell yourself

Because you are afraid

To grieve

Your life, dreams, people

You do not need to save them

They can save themselves

Love them

Love yourself

Grief is love unspent

To love living is glorious

But there is merriment to be had

In mortality

I know what death feels like

I have died before

It feels like stepping off a narrow road

Into a wheat field in the late afternoon sun

There is nothing you have to do

Gratitude

About the Creator

Aspen Marie

In love with life and all of its foibles.
