The Laundry Mat

My first trip in many years!

In my home, I have had a washer and dryer since 1997, when I moved into this home. Every once in a while, I take a few rugs or large blankets/quilts to the laundry mat.

In my house, I am the only one to use my bathroom, therefore the rugs do not get a lot of use. However, it was time. I bought new rugs that fit beautifully. My rugs still look good but need washing before using somewhere else or storing. Maybe giving away.

BTW: The woman in the photo above is not me! It could be a granddaughter though or even a great granddaughter.

While I was sitting, and waiting in the laundry mat, I visited a woman and I wrote. The woman I visited said she is at the laundry mat twice a week and it costs her $40.00 a week. She took her clothes from the washers and placed them in the dryer.

She has 4 children and that is her life. She pumped quarters into the dryer and then left. She will be back in 30 minutes or so, as the dryer has a timer.

For my 2 large rugs and a large winter blanket, it cost me $20.00. I used a washing machine that cost me $5.25 and then didn't work. No service person at the laundry mat, to get help or be reimbursed. Then I thought, maybe that will help the owner improve the machines.

The donation then was okay with me.

Here is what I wrote:

Laundry mat is hot

Not my favorite spot

machine not working

operator error guessing

too much money in there

now what do I dare

do? Someone works

here. No sign, no jerks

Better be nice and kind

and grateful I'm not losing my mind!

~

Well, I'm still here

It can still happen

My helper is on the phone Dear

I would rather clean a pig pen

than stay here all day

okay, it's not that bad and hey

I just insulted how many?

Maybe not any

Well, you can let me know

that I did or didn't and no

Hubby isn't with me

he may be pulling out his hair see

Well, no! He has no hair

Okay, now I stare

The machine is so costly

last time I washed it was done cheaply.

Time to go

it went way to slow!

A complaint by a poem. Your talent should be really appreciated.

  • Omgggg you didn't get a refund and your rugs and blanket didn't get washed. That's so sad
