The Last Goodbye To Grandad
Gone but in our hearts for ever

The Last Goodbye To Grandad
The church bells wept in solemn chime,
As rain like sorrow marked the time.
A gentleman now laid to rest,
A heart so kind, forever blessed.
An ocean swelled in grieving eyes,
Each tear a storm where love still cries.
A friend, a guide, a hand so strong,
Now lost to time, yet still lives on.
The whispered prayers, the trembling hands,
The heavy weight no soul withstands.
A voice once rich with love and lore,
Now silenced, gone forevermore.
The suit he wore, the polished shoes,
A life of honor, torn and bruised.
Still in our hearts, he will still remain.
His laughter echoing through the pain.
I see him in his comfy chair,
His stories lingering in the air.
A cup of tea, a knowing smile,
A man who walked the extra mile.
And so we stand, our faces pale,
The final notes, the lowering veil.
A last goodbye, so hard to speak,
An endless ache, a future bleak.
But somewhere past this bitter end,
A place where grief will learn to mend,
He waits beyond the edge of sight,
A flickering star in endless night.

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️
