The Last Goodbye
The Last Goodbye, The First Kiss
We stood in the doorway, silent, still,
hearts too heavy, hands too chill.
The weight of leaving, thick as air,
a moment stretched, a vacant stare.
Your fingers loosened , mine stayed tight,
holding back what wasn’t right.
No words left, no space for more,
just the echo of the closing door.
But once, beneath a sky so wide,
you brushed my lips and turned the tide.
A first kiss, a spark, a start,
before we learned to break a heart.
And so we part, as strangers do,
with memories caught in shades of blue.
The last goodbye, the first embrace,
both lost now, time won’t replace.
Too young to know, a romance song.
We both let go, neither strong.
Memories of that night remain,
You moved on and I remained.
