The Lantern of the first Dawn.

Let there be light.

By Novel AllenPublished 3 months ago β€’ Updated 3 months ago β€’ 2 min read

Reverence, majesty and power to The first lantern ever lit -

Celestially created from the Heavens, divinely glowing

Illuminating the vast nothingness above and below

A mystic flaming lantern - the primordial spark -

The womb of illumination. The beginning of time.

The first book of poetry ever written, the Bible,

has never been surpassed. It tells the story of a holy flame,

which began our descent into light

In the Beginning, God created the heaven and the earth

And the earth was without form - and void...and darkness was upon the face of the deep

And the spirit of god moved upon the face of the waters

AND GOD SAID..."LET THERE BE LIGHT".

And there was light. THE FIRST LANTERN WAS forever LIT.

The lantern divided the light from the dark, day from night

It shone upon the firmament...the space between heaven and earth

it separated the spaces between the oceans and the land

The light shone upon the earth dividing the land from the sea

The Lantern of the First Dawn - created before breath

Before the Word curled its tongue,

a lantern hung in the belly of nothing -

a flame unborn, dreaming of form.

It did not flicker. It pulsed before it had a name.

Its glass was born of darkness , its wick from longing.

The world was not yet a world - only a question,

waiting to be answered...waiting for life,

a dark mouth waiting to be kissed by fire, water and ice.

There were no people to watch this splendor unfurl

When the lantern cracked open the void,

spilling light on darkness, black as ink

across the sleeping bones of time.

Mountains blinked. Rivers awakened. Oceans flowed.

The sky created itself from sacred ash and golden clouds

And the lantern, that first and only lantern,

was hung in the heart of every star, every soul to come

every eye, every story told , by firelight and shadow.

Even now,

when we light a lantern in the night,

we are echoing that first miracle -

the voice, the hand of one that dared to say:

Let there be wonder.

And creation sprang forth. Magnificent.

Glorious.

β€œThe Lantern of the First Dawn - created before breath Before the Word curled its tongue” There’s so much elegance within your poem, especially in these lines. Well made!
