The land

By William Sangalli

By Will SangalliPublished 8 months ago 1 min read

You need your mind—your soul.

As you roam the lands, let them accompany you.

You are not some bystander who eats what’s at hand.

There is no reason to act as if you are on the witness stand.

So, do not neglect who you are.

Just a vessel in a pasture, doesn’t that sound bizarre?

Hold tight and trust in the present— has anything happened thus far?

To let go—fully let go—will harm your logos.

As if you had just gotten hit in the face and bled from your nose.

Take hold of it; otherwise, anything goes.

Even in the moments of want— of need.

Stay close to the soul— the mind that have kept you sane.

Without them, you may forget and wander aimlessly

Causing you to get lost in this land.

Is this something you understand?

Because without them, you lose all hope.

And a beast will appear.

Do not act as if this is unclear.

A lion has spent its life honing its senses to stalk you

While you have only ever had the attitude of “this will do”

Will you begin to wander around, awaiting death while you mope?

Causing you to graze that pasture with no purpose, like the antelope.

Which has no consciousness— no reason to yearn.

All while your father prays for your safe return.
