The Lake That Had Her Face

It’s been 10 years

By Sender Jeannestal Published 8 months ago Updated 6 months ago 1 min read

It’s been 10 years since we sat on that bench behind my apartment

Today your coming to see me

I wonder if you remember my shaky hands

My sweat would leak through my pits down to my ribs because my nerves would betray me.

It’s been 10 years since we met eye to eye

Today your coming to see me

Stand in the rain

That’s how my eyes remembers your smile

But maybe it’s just me.

It’s been 10 years since the first day we met

Today your coming to see me

When we see each other release me from the prison you put me in

Constantly I’ve been sitting at the bench just to see your reflection in the lake

If I wasn’t for you then why did he send you?

It’s been 10 years since the bird took a flight at night just to sing a song to you

Today your coming to see me

Would it be wrong in the eyes of God if we bonded because of the evil that was done to us?

We talk with laughter but our souls are in tears

Look at the distance he put between you and me.

It’s been 10 years 10 long years

Today your coming to see me

The closer the hour get the closer I anticipate flavorful encounter

Full of shattered love and affection

Is this the both of us or the hunger in me?

The way I’m going

Either I’m going to be release from this lake or fall deeper

It’s been 10 years come out from the water.
