The Knot of Marriage
A Poetic Reflection on Love, Commitment, and Humanity

Marriage is often described in legal, social, or romantic terms—but rarely as a sacred transformation of the human spirit. In this poem, I explore marriage not as a contract, but as a journey through light and shadow, presence and promise.

The Knot of Marriage
🌿 by Kabir Ahmed Chowdhury
The evening's vow burns like incense,
I leave behind shadows in the care of light.
Two hands bound in an invisible thread—
Not by law, nor merely by love;
But by the silent consent of the cosmos itself.
She asked, “Do you seek the end of this road?”
I said, “No—I want the beginning to last forever.”
Marriage is not just a ring on a finger,
It is a labyrinth of vows,
Where I lose myself only to find me in your eyes.
The walls listen to the songs of night—
Silent quarrels, quiet kisses,
A baby's cry beside a flickering stove,
And one hand tells another,
"For you, I have become human again today."
This poem is no sermon,
Nor a chant of ancient rites—
It is a reflection of those fragile moments,
Where two souls together
Shape time into something called love.

Author's Note
This poem was born out of observing how marriage, in its truest form, is neither perfection nor permanence—it is presence. I believe poetry is one of the last sanctuaries where raw, unfiltered emotions can breathe. If this resonated with you, feel free to leave a ❤️ or share it with someone who believes love is more than just ceremony.
