Delicate, white, water lilies
swayed effortlessly
in the clear,
crystal blue waters
of the Mediterranean Sea.
Gentle waves caressed
the soft, pink sand
as the sun set slowly,
painting the horizon
in strokes of crimson,
deep cinnamon, violet,
and the lightest rose
with golden highlights
across a pale blue sky.
The last shimmering rays
illuminated a mountain
shaped like a woman’s body
laying back,
knees raised,
resting,
waiting for Apollo
to embrace her lovingly
with his pearlescent light.
I floated in the warm water,
cradled by the waves,
moving back and forth.
The evening breeze
cooled my face
as I absorbed
the radiant colors
of the fiery sun.
The first stars began to twinkle
in the indigo heavens
as a silvery moon
made its appearance
on the horizon.
Slowly, quietly, the moon rose
as surely as the ancients
had seen Apollo
in his chariot
drawn so steadily
across the star-studded sky.
I may ask now, I thought.
All the questions
I have been pondering
can now be answered.
The waters of life
that once touched
the shores of Atlantis
and dampened
the sculpted, rich,
green fields of Lemuria
rocked me
in their timeless rhythm.
The mountainous woman,
illuminated in the silvery glow
of the moon-filled, night sky,
revealed her grand silhouette
paying tribute to Gaia,
the Goddess of fertility,
and the earth in its glory.
I waited patiently,
yet no questions arose
to meet the majesty
of peace sublime.
No ripples crossed my mind
as I relaxed into a state of bliss.
All questions were answered
in the lap of nature’s bounty.
For the mind is free
when we merge
into the Oneness of Love.
