The Innocence of a Child
A giggle in the morning light
A hand that reaches out so wide
The world is fresh, the sky is new
With every step, a dream to guide
They jump in puddles, chase a breeze
No thought of time or where it goes
Each question blooms like flower buds
Each answer something no one knows
Their hearts are open, soft and clear
With kindness written in their eyes
No greed, no games, just quiet trust
That lifts the world and makes it wise
A pebble found becomes a prize
A feather floats, a tale begins
The smallest joys become their gold
The grandest wonders tucked within
No walls are built, no lines are drawn
They love without a need to prove
They find a friend in passing clouds
And speak in songs of peace and truth
They do not judge, they do not lie
Their tears are honest, quickly dried
They see the good in every face
And hold no hate or need for pride
So let us learn from those so small
Who teach with laughter, not with pride
The wisest gift we’ll ever know
Lives in the innocence of a child

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️
