The Inhibitions of Silver Linings
Reflections from Today to Escape Tomorrow
If this peace is ephemeral, let me hold you close while stars descend from their place in the sky. We watch over balconies as fallen angels surrender their empires and the age of man is stripped from existence.
A new throne seated amongst heavenly hosts, one we are not prepared for but must embrace. Bodies prostrate in submission as thoughts materialize through shallow breaths. A prayer for forgiveness thrown out into crashing waves. Heartfelt repentance now oxidized pennies we flick into wishing wells for good measure.
While our inhibitions may rock us to sleep, only acceptance will give us rest. The acceptance of nagging toothaches that radiate across the jaw as I bite down to chew. Back molars echoing the damage of carnal patterns. Appetites for seconds, maybe thirds of sweet morsels that live for the moment accruing interest with payments past due.
A sigh of ecstasy to ignore the pain as I admire exposed forms under the moonlight only to return to an endless race that no longer holds value. Dawn breaks through the clouds as we forget to count the cost of buying time. What if silver linings are just assumptions that the grass is greener in another life?
Our need to face the present can wait until tomorrow. For if we set ablaze each little secret that compounds behind closed doors, what is the point if we are not ready to burst at the seams of this carbon shell? Freeing our minds so insistent on remaining buried in the sand as the grains of this shore fill up gaps within quiet moments.
A peace that surpasses understanding. Wouldn't that be a sight? To discern the difference between what is easy and what is right.
