The Idea Of A Better Tomorrow

What Founded America

America the beautiful, or so it used to be,

Now it's in trouble and covered in ugliness from sea to shining sea,

A shining idea she once was to the world,

Many look at her now like looking at a piece of tarnished gold,

But fewer pick up their boots and go out to work each day,

Stores and businesses suffer while celebutantes bitch about a gap in pay,

Blood washes down the streets from New York to Baltimore,

And police question witnesses just for them to be ignored,

Over Holiday weekends the spoiled brats come out to destroy,

And they wonder why the rest of the world views them with no joy,

Disrespecting people's things and freedom while demanding theirs,

Then crying like little babies when a big bad cop intercedes in their criminal affairs,

By Issy Bailey on Unsplash

All this goes on while common sense in Washington is gone at every turn,

And the world watches in awe as the planet continues to burn,

The greatest country ever built, and you can't guarantee you can breathe the air,

America, like the world my friends, is looking less and less fair,

By Louis Velazquez on Unsplash

Our leaders continue to squabble and our freedoms are at risk,

While Joe Biden avoids the press and wants to control information, tisk tisk,

China floods our borders with dangerous fentanyl, while liberals ignore the truth,

And parents going to school board meetings run the risk of arrest for being rude,

It used to say give us your tired, your oppressed, and your weary masses,

Now it should read why would you come here you outright dumbasses,

But she's still the freest of the countries, at least for now,

So I hope you thought of why we celebrate the fourth as the fireworks went pow,

In America, we have rights, even when we're an ass,

And brave men and women fight to keep it that way and come to help when asked,

Not stolen off the streets and forced to fight in a war you didn't start,

And every four years we can try to make it better, after election seasons that aren't for the faint of heart.

America is an idea,

It's why it has to last,

It's the belief in a world that can still be better,

Never forgetting the past,

I hope you had a happy and safe 4th of July. On our nation's birthday, we should remember the ideas that started the United States. Not the grievous crap shoved down our throats by CNN, MSNBC, FOX, or right out of the mouth of the orator at the Whitehouse. America was founded with an idea of freedom for all, a better world than the one that was escaped, and a chance to go out and work hard for what you want. The right to pursue happiness. If everyone kept that in mind and stopped treating people with such disrespect in the world, maybe we could get back to chasing that idea again. We may not be there yet, but we still can get there, together.

Owning your own business and investment is where the youth are going. Technology is changing. We used to the old ways. More Americans are making a living overseas because of the kindness culture in foreign countries. American ideology is changing, which can be sad if it keep going in the wrong direction. Time will tell.

  • Oddly enough, this sounds much like what the Tories said before & all through the American Revolution. The Boston Tea Party was an act of protest & civil disobedience over taxes that were imposed upon the colonists with no voice in the matter. It involved trespass & destruction of property. This country wasn't simply founded on principles of freedom & equality. It was founded by those who were willing to oppose unfairness & fight for liberty, equality & justice.
