The Hunt for Your Heart
I have to find it for my sanity

The Hunt for Your Heart
I walked through the ruins of yesterday,
where your laughter still clings to the air.
The scent of you is caught in the dust of time,
like perfume on a ghost that won’t leave.
I am hunting for your heart in the silence,
in the corners where your shadow once slept.
Each step I take echoes with your name,
yet still, you do not turn to answer.
Love has become a cruel hunter’s game,
each memory a snare I can’t escape.
I bleed through the chase, unhealed, unending,
drawn to the scent of what I’ve already lost.
You were the woman the wind remembers,
the warmth that lived beneath my skin.
And I, a fool with trembling hands,
try to hold the shape of what has gone.
The night grows heavy with what you left.
The stars blur through the wet of my eyes,
and still, I search the cold horizon,
believing your heart beats somewhere near.
If I ever find it, what then, my love?
Would it still know my name, or turn away?
Would it hide behind the ache of time,
and let me suffer the truth I deserve?
So I hunt through dreams and broken dawns,
through echoes that call me by mistake,
for a heart that once beat beside my own,
but now belongs to yesterday.
