The Humanity Series pt 3: "Hard-Working American"

I cannot work any harder.

I cannot fathom

How we have to earn our lives

By obtaining enough imaginary numbers

To give to somebody else

To give to somebody else

To give to somebody else

To buy another airplane

Or a seventh car.

I cannot take another breath,

Because I cannot fathom

How we have to earn the right

To live something

We are only granted once

Just because we may love someone

Who matches the imaginary names

For parts that we do,

And not someone with a soul

That matches our own.

Why do I have to remind you

That we are the gods

Of our own stupid,

Avoidable destruction?

Changing the rules of a game

We created.

You can believe an almighty Father

Wrote the instruction manual,

Believe those of us who disobey

Are destined to burn.

But your God created people.

He created a world that was not the same

As the world we forged,

And that world?

Well, sometimes it requires different rules.

Who are you going to fight for?

When it’s your neighbor’s blood in the streets?

When your sister is living on those streets

With two full-time jobs just to feed herself,

Let alone afford houses we built,

Not your God!

Why do I have to remind people

To just support each other?

To be kind,

to mind their own lives,

For the sake of your Gods!

“Love the sinner, hate the sin?”

It seems like most of you

Just hate seeing the sinner live.
