The human looking at me.

You are home.

By Maximino RodriguezPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

There is a human looking at me.

I am scared of humans.

They are all so interesting.

So different from me.

So large.

So clumsy looking.

Where did it lose six appendages?

How is it walking on only two?

How does it see anything with two eyes?

How does it get any food?

No bright colors.

Just different shades.

Every one of them.

The human saw me.

It is not making any movements.

Just looking in my eyes.

That is not normal.

I must get closer.

I will shoot my silk.

To its eyes.

Can I look at you?

I step onto my thread.

Each leg gently tugging.

As I get closer,

I feel a vibration.

Thump..thump...thump. Thump.

What could this be?

It gets faster the closer I get.

I step off my thread.

The human feels soft.

Fleshy and easily pierced by my fangs.

Inject them with my venom.

But why?

They are not harming me.

I will just be.

As different as the same.

Remarkable.

I have found a home.

One to explore.

For all of time.

I will not harm you.

You are my home.

You provide shelter.

You provide oils and mites.

You are warmth.

What am I feeling?

I will enjoy as the light rises,

From one side of you,

To the beauty of it falling on the other.

May my future generations,

Experience this magic.

That is home.

Without governments and guns.

Whatever those are.

I am a spider.

I will hold you sacred.

Use what I need.

Not destroy, but cohabitate.

Protect you from those who try to harm.

May my entire species,

If they so should reside on human space,

Stand with me.

In keeping balance.

We will remember the day,

We were given the opportunity,

To step onto you,

To live on you.

Thank you.

You are home.
