The hornet and the tinnitus

A reflective poem of great depth

I'm not worried too much by the sting;

From a distance, I'll just blast the thing.

But there's something I really abhor:

Its buzzing, an insectile roar.

My concern is not one made from fear

But is caused by my poor inner ear,

As it seems that when I hear that buzz,

It results in a loud tinnitus.

Even though there is no hornet near

I can still hear it here in my ear.

It seems a remarkable trick

And it really does get on my wick.

    A delightful rhyming poem… not often tinnitus stars in a poem! Hope it’s not true for you 😵‍💫.

  • My tinnitus sounds like evening crickets in the field, a rather pleasant sound. Sounding like a hornet I would find quite unnerving, lol.

    I know that annoying feeling. I swear sometimes I can hear the furnace hum in my bldg.

    This was nice to read and so relatable

  • I really enjoyed this. Tinnitus is extremely annoying. =]

  • Imagine it enters your ear and stays there, lol. Loved your poem!
