A poem about patience and resilience

The heron. A bird that is the reincarnation of the Goddess Rhiannon, according to Celtic culture. The Celtic Goddess Rhiannon is the Lady of the Lake, and the Goddess associated with Change and Transformation.

Anything requiring change and transformation requires patience The heron, then, becomes a fitting symbol.Enjoy this poem

Heron

Waits

By the hour

For the single fish

That it can grasp

With its thin beak

Heron

Combs

The ground

Though efforts may be

Fruitless

for the one worm

That finally

Wriggles away

In triumph

Heron

Touches the sky

Going the distance

Accumulates

Frequent flyer miles

To rest

And raise

Babies

That grow up

In a comfortable, dirty

Mangrove

Heron

That takes to the skies

Soars

Its wings spread

With the strength

Borne of

Pain.

Such a powerful poem! I also didn't know that Goddess Rhiannon reincarnated as a heron.
