The Helping Hand

It's what I am

By CatPublished 4 years ago Updated 4 years ago 2 min read
mine

A helping hand is what I am.

It is never what I own or have.

I thank you for the paranoia.

About people.

Who are unreliable.

I thank you.

For the trust issues.

And the isolation endured.

-

The helping hand is what I need.

When times are hard.

It’s in the creed.

That I scratch your back and…

You scratch mine.

I should have dug my nails so deep into your skin,

that you would have had no choice but to return the favor.

Because what I need right now is a

Helping Hand.

And I don’t seem to have any around.

Edward cut his up by accident.

Didn’t realize my claws were this sharp too.

I thought only my words did the slicing.

I’d like a helping hand.

Like the one once

“Borrowed”

Can I please have that back too?

-

I’d like my peace.

And my body.

And my life back also.

Can we pretend as if…

I simply…

Never.

Gave my hand to you?

Can we pretend like…

I never did anything for you…

-

Can we stop pretending like we’re close?

When you only used me for my hands ?

Can we just act like we really want to?

-

You know you don’t care.

You’ll probably be late to my wedding.

You’ll see my kids once a year, or two.

But you’ll never watch them in an emergency.

I could never borrow money from you.

-

In fact…

You’d be offended if I ever asked for a helping hand from you.

You’d shame me if I asked for a hand from you.

You’d think I’m just as bad as you.

If I ever.

Did what you like to do.

-

God forbid

if I ever asked of you.

I’d never hear anything but that from you.

Do you love that this is what it’s come to?

-

You got what you wanted so you don’t even care.

Just give the hand back as soon as…

You can.

Not as soon as you want to.
