The Hellers

Devils who not know what sin they commit

At the knees! I once begged at the knees!

By god! Thunder hailed, and light clapped the trees,

And I made creed with heaven hastily,

At whatever I beckoned could be;

Not I, that I know of, not possibly;

And so at heavy shower, that poured of bullets and stone,

That numbed every muscle and blocked my path to home,

At the knees! I begged at the knees!

That thunder and rain made me kneel guiltily,

What could be that troubles the heavens, and what can I do as humanity?

Whether I made creed with angels, or sign to devil,

I hope this punishment made quick without trial,

For I wish not to see God look upon me,

As a red devil, who led so sinfully,

I am already sunk to my knees,

If I have sinned, may the rain sink me,

To hell, where with the hellers dwell

Where I bleed, resounding the knell,

For I’ve done something, to bide in hell
