A young man returns to the place where he belongs.

The Heartland

I was born in the Heartland, where the land is flat and wide, and the sky is always blue. My parents were farmers, and I grew up working in the fields. I learned the value of hard work and the importance of community.

I left the Heartland when I was young, but I never forgot it. I carried its values with me wherever I went. I made a life for myself in the city, but I always knew that I would come back to the Heartland one day.

I came back to the Heartland when I retired. I wanted to spend my golden years in the place where I belonged. I bought a small farm and started a garden. I spent my days reading, writing, and enjoying the peace and quiet of the countryside.

I am grateful for the Heartland. It gave me my roots and my sense of identity. It is the place where I belong.
