The Heart That Never Forgot You

a gentle poem about memories, enduring love, and the quiet strength of holding someone dear

By Kashif WazirPublished 2 months ago 1 min read

My heart never forgot you

Even when the world moved on

Even when your voice faded

Even when I tried to let go.

It remembered the mornings

When sunlight touched your face

And your laughter spilled

Like music across the room.

It remembered the evenings

When shadows grew long

And your presence felt close

Even in empty spaces.

It remembered your touch

Soft as a whisper

Light as the breeze

That carried your warmth to me

Even when you were far away.

My heart carried your name

In quiet moments

In the hush between heartbeats

In dreams that returned to you

Over and over.

It held your memory

Like a fragile flame

Gentle but unbroken

Bright even in darkness

Steady even in storms.

It remembered the little things

The way your eyes smiled

The curve of your hand

The softness of your words

The unspoken promises

That lingered quietly between us.

Even when time passed

Even when distance grew

Even when life said goodbye

My heart held on

With a love that would not waver.

It whispered your name

In the silent mornings

In the still nights

In the spaces where longing lives

And hope refuses to leave.

It carried your laughter

Like petals on the wind

Your dreams

Like stars in the night sky

Your love

Like water flowing

Softly, endlessly, quietly.

Even when the world tried to erase

Even when I told myself to forget

Even when my tears fell

My heart remembered

And it kept you

Safe, gentle, and alive

Inside its quiet chambers.

My heart never forgot you

And it will not forget

Because love like this

Does not fade

Does not leave

Does not die.

It waits patiently

Holds firmly

Loves quietly

And teaches me

That some hearts

Are made to remember

Forever,

Even when everything else moves on.
