The Haze

A Monday poem

And if I caress the edges of your thoughts,

Will you return in a fog like a lonely ghost,

Hoping to haunt the bones of a lover you

Lost somewhere in the mountain valley

Where the river shifts into its own mist?

.

I would bet every twilight dream I have

That you yearn to be nothing more to me

Than a nebulous dream, a stellar nursery

Crafting something cosmic and eternal

In the empty void of space in my thoughts.

.

What is going on in the halls of your mind?

I think I can hear the clatter of knives

Falling to the floor in mock surprise that you

Tore the world apart with your bare hands

And slippery little midnight embraces.

.

Did I lay the stone tile on those floors

Stretching from the depth of you onward,

Or did I light the wick of a very old candle

Ready and eager to burn through the library

Holding the best pieces of you down?

The imagery here is breathtaking haunting romantic and aching all at once. It feels like a love letter written from inside a dream.

🌫️Damn, this is very atmospheric. Wait. I've got to read the first five lines again. I could see the fog, I could experience through my sight, the form of the ghost with the fog. 🌫️From a nursery —to crafting something cosmic —to an empty void of space. You have crafted an image in our minds that effectively, bonds us with your words. The more I read, the more impressed I am. That question 'what is going on in the halls of your mind' quiet literally, went through the screen I am reading from. It brings the reality of your words to life, that is grounded in something tangible. 🌫️Ending on a question was the best choice. It feels ongoing and your words linger more. Outstanding, simply, outstanding 🤗❤️🖤
