The Handover.

As You Wanted It.

By Cathy (Christine Acheini) Ben-Ameh.Published 5 months ago 1 min read

I built a kingdom of tenderness,
stone by stone with my pulse,
my love a fortress,
my prayers a shield you never saw.

You mistook patience for weakness,
devotion for chains,
spat on the altar,
shat on the gift,
and crowned yourself a god.

Love is not a toy.
It is thunder in the quiet,
a blade beneath the hand.
Today, I draw it.

I hand you to the wind,
to the fire,
to the silence between heartbeats
where God Himself whispers.
My obedience will no longer shield you,
my love will no longer soften your blows.

Watch the walls of pride crumble.
Hear the ground whisper beneath your feet.
Those who bowed to you will rise,
and the throne you claimed
will turn to ash.

You will not die.
Heaven has preordained your path,
but the proud break before they learn.
Grace waits in the dust.
Power belongs to the One who gives it,
never to you.

🤍This was so beautiful 🤍 It really shows how vulnerable we become when we decided to do the better thing. Whether that be to submit or to pay them back with patience. Often the opposite comes back to us. 🤍 It’s an uncomfortable thing and it often feels unfair. ~ I like the imagery of chains ~ gifts being shat on. The tone grates along the edges, I like that 👌🏽 ~ love is not a toy indeed ~ the throne they claim will ‘turn to dust’ because the one who the power belongs to, will never give it over. Beautifully written, Cathy! 👏🏽👌🏽🤗♥️

Another great performance, Cathy. You are a natural at crafting powerful stanzas of poetry. Bravo!!! I do have to ask, how do you get the format to remain in place? Every time I try to do this type of arrangement, it changes once I publish it.

I love this line "grace waits in the dust". There's so much more of it in the places where we least expect it, then where it's all shiny and polished. Beautiful poem, I hope it becomes TS because you deserve it!
