The Greedy Farmer and the Landlord

A tale from the 1930s, a lesson to learn.

In a village poor, under a golden sky,

Lived a family small, with dreams so high.

A piece of land, just a humble span,

Was all they owned—this simple clan.

Among them was Hassan, the eldest son,

Whose hunger for power had just begun.

He dreamt of titles, lands, and fame,

But what he sought brought grief and shame.

With brothers and sisters, he'd rule with might,

Taking their earnings, both day and night.

"You'll call me Pasha," he'd proudly proclaim,

"One day, I'll rise to earn that name."

On fields of toil for the great landlord,

Hassan's ambition struck a chord.

The landlord, watching, with cunning eyes,

Planned a test that would seal his demise.

The Challenge of the Land

"Run at sunrise," the landlord said,

"Circle the land till the sun turns red.

All that you cover shall be your own,

But return alive, or it's all a loan."

Hassan, blinded by endless greed,

Dreamt of riches and boundless seed.

The night was long, yet filled with cheer,

For the morn would make his vision clear.

The Fateful Run

As dawn awoke, the village stood,

To witness Hassan's claim for good.

Through fields of gold and orchards wide,

He ran and ran with swelling pride.

"This wheat is mine!" he'd loudly shout,

"This orchard too!"—he’d never doubt.

But the sun grew hot, and his breath grew thin,

Yet he pressed on to take it all in.

At last, at dusk, to the crowd he came,

But not as a victor bearing his name.

He fell to the ground, his heart gave way,

And there Hassan lifeless lay.

The Lesson in the Grave

They dug a grave, just two meters long,

A space so small for a man so strong.

The landlord spoke, as the people mourned,

"Greed took his life, though he was warned.

For what is land to a lifeless soul?

A narrow grave is the final goal."

Years passed, and justice swept the land,

The poor were given their rightful stand.

No more titles, no lords to reign,

Equality brought to end the pain.

And so the tale of Hassan's plight,

Shines as a beacon, a guiding light.
