The Grasshopper Lies Heavy

A Poem

The grasshopper lies heavy on a single blade

It bends with its weight

Swaying in the breeze

As the grasshopper rubs its knees

The forest listens to the grasshopper’s screams

As moon beams seep through the trees

The ants watch as the grasshoppers graze

A plague upon the land

Moving on when all is gone

Yet, the ants must remain

The grasshopper says they’re to blame for the destruction

The grasshoppers revel in the fallacy of their constructed reality

Sweeping every ant hill

From sea to sea

To satisfy their greed
