The Golden Brick Road

my road to hell was built

with would haves and could haves,

wishes and promises,

fairy tales and fables,

shared around the hearth's fire,

fabricated morality,

good intentions

twisting and turning

somewhere over the rainbow.

a well-read path

worn smooth by a deluge of tall tales.

whispered promises of redemption

beyond the yellow brick road,

past the poppies,

well beyond the emerald city.

By happenstance, I was listening to Goodbye Yellow Brick Road earlier, one of my all-time favorite Elton John albums. I like your style. ⚡💙⚡
