The Girl Who Gave Her Life to Him

She gave her life to him

her days her nights her years

she carried his weight

she held his silence

she stood in his shadow

her hands wore thin

her eyes turned hollow

her voice sank quiet

her heart stayed open

she bent when he asked

she broke when he turned

she healed herself in silence

and still she gave

he never saw

he never asked

he never knew the cost

her dreams went cold

her body grew tired

her spirit dimmed

but she stayed

she gave her life to him

not once

not twice

but every day that passed

and when nothing was left

she was still there

empty and his

till her dying kiss
