I'd been emptied out
I lay barren and broken
On the roadside
When love fell upon me
Dressed, bandaged, and
Nourished me
Asking nothing in
compensation
So I rose up
Determined to dole out the
Same energetic affection
I had received in
My time of need
Spread the feeling of comfort
And desperate relief
Freely given to me
At first, it felt unnatural
Unable to rise false smiles
Instead, I wept in
Empathetic fellowship
Still, I pressed on
Eventually, the past seemed to
Lose its grip on my present
Smiles elusively returned
More easily to my face
Now I can laugh
With genuine passion
Love, having run its course
A gift for every age and season

I don't often share poems based on bible verses, but the ultimate message Jesus taught is love. When asked what the most important commandment of the law was, the answer recorded in Matt 22:34-40 indicates that Love for God and neighbor should guide all action. Making decisions and seeing others through a hateful lens is disrupting and destroying society.
Luke 10:30-35, Romans 12:15

This was so beautiful KB. I loved it
That one feels like sunlight slowly breaking through the clouds. Love really does multiply when it’s shared. 💖
Well said! Both the poem and the author’s note
