THE FULL MOON
A CRAZY DREAM I HAD: The Flood and the Snakes therein - (A Poem Dedicated to the Poet, Edgar Allen Poe)

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary.
Over many quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore -
While I nodded, nearly napping suddenly there came a tapping...
Drip - drip -drip ...
A flood - a flood nearly wrapping,
Wrapping around and within my house.
"Tis something wrong," I muttered.
Wrapping at and within my house
Only this and nothing more, not even a mouse,
Until the water came a tapping - tapping, on my bedroom floor.
My bed was sinking and then my legs.
Getting out of my bed, my feet hit the floor... and then, I wade -
I wade, to my bedroom door.
"Mommy, Daddy!" I scream... Can this be a dream?
This house only has... two floors...
Wading through the water,
I walk downstairs, looking and searching, for the front door.
Unlocking it - it won't budge.
How am I able to breathe, for the water... has soared.
Walking past the dining room and then the kitchen,
I feel something slithering - slithering snakes !
On my kitchen floor.
What a fright, I could see - all those black snakes -
Black Mombas - Black Cobras
There were millions of them - only black - black and as large as the sea.
Frightened and scared, I pull the back door open and waded out.
Wading to a tree, the only one I saw - it was grand - like a sequoia.
It was extremely tall.
Climbing up, I pull with my arms and hands, and push with my feet.
Like a newborn, ready to teat.
Climbing up one level to the next,
The limbs had me vexed.
The water was so high, chasing my bottom, this nigh,
Slipping with every climb,
As one's hand would, when holding a chimb.
I finally get to the top, I can see the moon, as full - as full can be,
A vivid white, she looked so divine - a divine - sublime.
Straddling two limbs, I begin to weep - the fall is steep.
The snakes are getting higher, there's no where else to go...
Only up, is all I know.
I begin to float as one snake snaps - snaps at my big right toe.
Lifting higher and higher, the full moon gives me, my HALO.
Gold and vibrant it looked, how ethereal the thought...
After surviving this horrible event...
This is what I got!
I look down, the snakes still snapping - with the beat of the tapping -
The tapping of the flood.
Drip - drip - drip...
Hiss - hiss - hiss...
The fangs are really showing, they're really mad.
As if they want to suck my blood.
"You can't touch me," I shout!
I'm one of GOD'S, obtaining much clout.
Laughing, I fly higher...
My wings, come out... I'm flying.
With LAUGHTER in my mouth and JOY in my heart
I'm delighted with life and the moon says so.
BUT what a warning, the snakes are MANY...
Bleak and dreary is their future... for their reward is eternal hell.
Mine is not, with GOD in HEAVEN, will I dwell.
