The Fortune Fish
Good luck from the depth of the sea

The Fortune Fish
Upon the shore where tides do play,
A fortune fish swam in the bay.
Its scales aglow with silver gleam,
A shimmering thread of a sailor’s dream.
Legends whispered through salty air,
Of wishes granted to those who dare—
Catch the fish and set it free,
And blessings will flow like the endless sea.
A humble fisher cast his net,
With hopes and dreams that fate had set.
The fortune fish, with a knowing gaze,
Leapt in the boat as the waters blazed.
“Release me now,” the creature said,
“In return, your fortunes shall be widespread.
But keep me captive, and soon you’ll see,
Misfortune rise like a storm-tossed sea.”
The fisher, wise and kind of heart,
Let the fish go and watched it dart.
The waves grew calm, the sky turned bright,
And his nets were full by the fall of night.
The village thrived from that fateful day,
Thanks to the fish that swam away.
A simple act, a choice so small,
Can bring good fortune to one and all.
So if you see a shimmer and swish,
Beware the call of the fortune fish.
For luck, like waves, can ebb and flow,
But kindness reaps the seeds you sow.

Let me rub thy belly oh fishy
Nicely done, my new friend! I enjoyed this read. It was fun and insightful all together. I can see it turning into a children's book as well. (I work with kids so it's all my brain knows.)
A perfect poem for fishermen of all ages and skills. Good work.
wonderful
I love the last line and congrats on your Sky-ku place
