Scanning the cornucopia of plants around me,
As they act like a hood for the fertile forest floor,
Protecting those tiny creatures beneath them,
From prying eyes like mine.
***
Touching one of the large ferns,
Feeling the coarse texture of a single leaf against my skin,
My fingertips are almost painted the same brilliant green.
***
A small green frog leaps from one branch to another,
Getting lost in the canopy of the towering trees,
Keeping all of us safe,
From the suffering of the outside world.
