He laughed lightly

at my misdirected joke

I slapped my forehead in chagrin

Embarrassed

by my lightening finger mistake

Wondering

if he thought my joke was funny

or if he was laughing at me

Laughing at my foolish mistake

Laughing that I slipped

and sent my joke his way

It made me wonder

who he's become

If he was any different

than he was back then

It made me wonder

if he'd even recognize me

if he saw who I've become

It made me wonder

if things could change

It made me wonder

if he thought about us again

It made me wonder

if we could have a fresh start

It made me wonder

if I still lived in his heart

fact or fiction
