The First Sight

— Where Hearts Begin to Speak

By LegacyWordsPublished 9 months ago 1 min read

I saw you across the crowded room,

Your hair was perfect, your smile in bloom.

I tripped on a chair and spilled my drink,

You looked at me—what did you think?

A clumsy start, but hey, that’s fate,

At least it wasn't a dance mistake!

I stuttered a hello, felt so shy,

You raised an eyebrow, then asked me why.

I mumbled something, hoping for grace,

You smiled—was that a laugh on your face?

But who could blame me, I was a wreck,

I thought I’d seen a unicorn’s neck!

You laughed and said, “Well, that was sweet,”

I thought, "Oh great, now I have cold feet."

I tried to walk away but tripped on a rug,

You caught me again—“Well, here’s a hug.”

Is this romance or just bad luck?

Either way, I’m still feeling stuck.

Your eyes were wide, you blinked, then spoke,

“Are you always this... charming?” you joked.

I grinned, not knowing what to reply,

Was I charming or just barely getting by?

But you winked, and then, oh what a sight—

I think we might just be alright!

So here we stand, still making messes,

But I’d take this chaos over any stresses.

A first sight, not perfect, but full of grace,

It’s clumsy love, at its own pace.

A funny start, but that’s okay,

I’d trip over you every day!

Now we laugh, remembering the scene,

That first sight, where I tried to look keen.

But you didn’t mind, you stuck around,

Who knew clumsy love could feel so profound?

I guess some things are meant to be,

Like you and me, and my broken knee.
