I am the first leaf,

to fall; brown, flaked, and broken,

Bury me sweetly.

A beautiful autumn haiku… it’s Spring here, at the moment. Fall isn’t very dramatic in Oz.🥹

The first leaf should be happy, but kind of like the first child, it bears a huge burden of responsibility. This captures that. Sadly wonderful.

The leaves, the leaves. My yard will soon be covered. Loved this

Ah!! So excited about fall!! But also, love the metaphorical feel of this one TWW (or TCW, as we've talked about before 😜). It could have been about heartbreak or that numb feeling after you lose someone and you just want to be buried alongside them!

  • This made me think like maybe the person feels that they're the weakest person. Loved your Haiku!

  • Beautiful words , perfect for the Fall

You know, this made me feel sad. "Brown, flaked and broken" speaks of something marred - dull, crumbling and damaged. "Bury me sweetly" is mixed: bury because death, dirt, decomposition but sweetly suggests affection, love, care. Pensive is how this has made. But it is autumnal to a tee.
