The Fire Within

A spark was born beneath my skin,

A quiet glow, so soft, so thin.

Yet deep inside, it longed to rise,

To break beyond my guarded skies.

I feared the weight of eyes unknown,

The way the world can chill the bone.

But light is never meant to hide,

It swells, it burns, it must collide.

So crack the shell and let it pour,

A golden river from the core.

No shame should tame this brilliant tide,

No whispered doubt should dim its stride.

The wounds I wore, the scars I kept,

Were proof of flames that never slept.

Through every ache, through every night,

They shaped the hands that cradle light.

Now watch it burst, unchained, untamed,

A beacon fierce, no longer framed.

I stand ablaze, unbowed, unbent,

My fire is not for their consent.

And if the world should turn away,

Or shrink beneath my golden sway,

Then let them sit in shadow’s keep.
