The Final Class
Its finished I say. Graduation poem 2019.
We made to the end,
The end of the beginning,
The beginning to the end,
The final class of all our spinning
Our heads run wild,
So many emotions, so many thoughts
We have come so far from being a child
All that’s left to do is just connect the dots
We used to dream big, as high as the sky
As we grew older, we forgot to smile
Now it is time to say our goodbyes
From school classes, to a whole new lifestyle
We pull up our ties, and walk a mile
Forget what we once wished to be
And start the dream, just give it a trial
Once we leave, we are all free
Free from the system
Free from our grades
Free from the school bell that we missed everyday
It’s okay to be nervous,
I know I am shitting bricks,
But just remember the last 13 years has been a social service,
It is now time, to go out and show the world all of your hidden tricks
We all are capable of graduation,
Finishing assessments and memorising revision sheets,
Buying tickets to school from the train station,
Remembering the lyrics to all the new beats
We play our music where ever we go,
Most of us by now have chronic hearing impairment,
Getting told to take our ear phones out and stop the audio,
We all were annoyed by it , but some teachers it was them caring
We have been counting down the days,
The teachers, the students and our parents,
At the end of the day all our hard work will eventually pay,
Soon in the future we will be our own tenants
No more rules
No more controlling
No more sitting at our desks waiting for our feedback
When this year finishes, most of us will never talk,
We can question having reunions
But just in case, don’t go getting any Mohawks
School has been a ride and a bit of a delusion
But let’s all remember we are all human
We all make mistakes, and sometimes just have to go on a bit of detox,
Don’t take life too seriously, we don’t alway need a conclusion
Live life creatively, try to think out of the normal box.
Don’t go being transparent,
Wish each other happy birthday
Congrats on being a graduate
Now go and make it worth it.
