The Ferryman

You must pay your coin

By Mark Stigers Published about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

I am the ferryman.

Your coin have you?

For to cross the Styx span,

that you will want to do.

If you don’t cross,

you’ll be forced to wander

Your soul left lost,

Just another ghosts to ponder.

They’re known to put pennies on the eyes,

or an obol in the mouth was placed.

Just a word to the wise,

not to pay was a disgrace.

I’m the one you must pay.

Your coin you will use.

For you to make your way,

and your soul you won’t lose.

Here is something about which to think.

Charon is a girl’s name.

At me you may want to wink,

to see if I’m still game.
