The Face of Anxiety

Pick at the bumps.

Pick at the scabs.

Creating acne from clawing at insecurities,

That wasn't even pimples, to begin with.

Hands running through your hair.

Pulling strands out.

Searing for dead ends to rip apart.

Destroying your skin.

Scratching at your arm and legs.

Making scars from going after the same spot too many times.

Gnawing at your fingernails.

Finding an uneven one,

And ripping it straight off.

The blood trickling down your finger.

Creating your own self-destructive disgrace,

Just to distract the anxiety in your mind.
