The Essence of Winter

Frosted Verse Contest Entry

Drifting snowflakes

Dancing in the wind

Frozen fractals

Blanket the lush green

———

Wintertime magic

Fluttering through the air

Ice crystals

Design frosty windows

———

Twinkling lights

Children building snowmen

Winter Solstice

A time for celebration

———

Hot chocolate

Gingerbread, frankincense, and myrrh

Enchanting scents

Calming to our senses

———

Outside wind

Chills to the bone

Porch lights

Always guiding us home

———

Cold transformation

Freezing crops to slumber

Darkness consumes

Hibernation until germination

———

Silent reflection

As the new moon grows

Fires burning

Billowing up smoke

———

Seasonal depression

Comes and goes in waves

Hold on

It’s always worth the wait

———

Ice thaws

Seeping into the ground

Spring awakening

Beginning in the dark

———

Snow melts

Marking the seasons close

Vernal equinox

The wheel continues to turn

———

Most importantly, Thank you so much for reading! Sharing my writing on Vocal has been an amazing journey that is only just getting started. I hope you subscribe and enjoy my wandering ways. Dabbling in different genres but always thought provoking.

This piece was created with the frosted verse challenge in mind, I personally do not enjoy being cold but I adore snow! I decided to just follow my own flow with this one and describe most all of winters essence instead of just the dark or just the light.

If you could please take a moment to comment what you do or don’t like about this piece I would greatly appreciate it. I believe constructive criticism leads to growth!
