The Elusive Fountain
What is beauty?
Life had begun to leave its mark on her skin.
for years, it only scarred up her heart.
Masking the pain and the struggles within,
slowing tearing each of them apart.
But now from the outside, the damage appeared -
like the small cracks unseen on a dam.
Leaving its witnesses, filled up with fear,
effects to reckon with, this battering ram.
Age is nothing to fear, they say,
only the tabloids will tell you the truth
Surgery is only the gateway,
to the perpetual fountain of youth.
So, we distort and arrange with folly,
the parts we no longer employ.
For those, remember me moments, melancholy,
that we once had the mind to enjoy

This is beautiful. Well done.
Scars & wrinkles may represent memories, lessons, cautionary tales or any of countless other things. But they should always be treasured, for they have helped make us who we are today.
Oh dear! I could not have said this any better. I now fear the mirror, hoping it will still answer "You are still the fairest of them all". But it cannot lie. The years are but fleeting things. Youth, enjoy the moments now. Love this.
You work gets better with each piece I swear! (you know I do) But this one is so awesome, the way it flows with minimal effort as it tells us its tale!
Beautiful! I think you write in your sleep! 😎🥰
