The Earth Guest House

The tale of rowdy, undeserving guests

By Seema PatelPublished 8 months ago 1 min read
@Seema

The earth is a guest house

We know nothing about the host

Our parents stayed here

Liked the service and amenities

And they gave us passes too!

We are supposed to explore the guest house

And interact with other guests

Enjoying our stay, while

Being nice to others, is the goal.

But we, monkey-minded humans,

Defaced the corridors with graffiti.

We attacked and evicted other guests.

We want to overstay our permission!

We will be evicted too,

Unceremoniously, for our bad manners

Our kids may not get the guest pass

The guest house may not stand

It has been damaged pretty bad.

It’s high time we respect this Earth and its resources. We are not here to consume to the point of gluttony. We must appreciate its beauty, enrich ourselves through its gifts, and preserve it untarnished for our posterity.
