The Duality of a Mind (-)

#VocalNPM

By Alys Farley-PineauPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

If you listen carefully to the winter wind, you can hear the sound of thousands of hearts breaking throughout the universe.

It can be overwhelming at first, sometimes enough to make you join them for a split second.

But reality of your own soul grasps you back, stitches you up, just so it can happen all over again.

There's this paralyzing effect to the white winter snow, so bright, so overly shining that it becomes inexplicably dark through an artist's eyes.

The hours passing in a heartbeat ever so slowly every repeating day, bringing you to places within yourself you dread going back to every year.

Because you know the abyss to which your mind can go, you know how deep in thought you can get when a single thing turns into an impossible nightmare of never ending mind games with your own brain.

Because the darkest hours are the ones spent in the discomfort of your own personal loneliness.

And you somehow find yourself going back to those hours.

Any sense of control over the functioning particles of your brain seemingly gone.

It all takes one thought and one thought alone to start it all. Or even just a tiny glimpse of the bottle of pills you fall asleep next to every night.
