the drive home

and everything before it

By g.m.t Published 4 years ago Updated 4 years ago 1 min read

kissing each other under the gentle drizzle of rain

the squeezing sound of our leather jackets as we touch each other’s face

street lights reflect off the dark pavements

and bounce back into my eyes like beams of light piercing my brain

the click clack of my boots as we both walk away

romanticizing everything about everything because it’s all so perfect when i get you alone

the way you brush a strand of hair off my nose

dancing around my mind as i drive home

before i can stop myself

i find myself smiling

at the linger of your completely natural cologne

at mainstream love songs on the radio

are you replaying the entire night too?

is it possible to be whole enough for you?

“what could’ve been”

with us, always is

i don’t feel like i’m missing out

unless i’m missing out on this
