The Dogs Set Chase

By Heather GlennPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

The doggies walk away, "Goodbye".

They smell each others butts, oh why?

But wait, they’re coming back you see,

to sniff around the neighbor’s tree,

and find the cat that’s climbing high.

_

Barking loud they run and jump.

Look there.. one landed on it’s rump.

Squalling, trotting round they go.

With all this work, they’ve naught to show.

It seems they’ve fallen in a slump.

_

The branches swayed from side to side

as furry paws pounced, soaring wide.

"Come on now pals, we’ve got to try

to catch the feline in the sky."

The cat just flew and hissed with pride.

_

Not watching where she went, Dear Lord!

The rooftop snuck up with it’s board

and smacked her squarely in the face.

The doggies now prepared to chase.

But wait! The cat then spied the gourd.

_

Stretching, reaching, her claws dug in

and grabbing hold caused it to spin.

The speed at which the cat let loose

slung her clear to dear Mrs. Boose.

Atop her head the cat did grin.

_

But as the doggies ran their way,

dear Mrs. Boose began to pray.

She set out running down the path

and tripped into a large bird bath.

That’s how she lost her wig that day.

_

So sly, our cat just tiptoed on

when dogs attacked the hairy spawn.

With chests poked out they walked right by

and held their trophy to the sky.

"Ah, time to nap", the cat did yawn.
