The Dog Who Wanted to Be a Man
I throw his ball, he say to me run go catch it if you can

The Dog Who Wanted to Be a Man
He stole my husband’s walking shoes
Then sat to watch the morning news.
He barked when someone spilled their tea
And grunted, “Same,” then looked at me.
He puffed and growled and crossed his paws,
He huffed at things he thought were laws.
He hated birds, ignored the post,
And acted like he paid the most.
He begged for beer and burped with pride,
He farted loud, then tried to hide.
He scratched his belly, eyed the meat,
Then licked the chair and took my seat.
He wouldn’t fetch, said, “Not today.”
He wanted toast and bills to pay.
He sulked when told to sit or stay,
He muttered, “Work gets in the way.”
He tried to drive. He chewed the key.
He shouted “Oi!” and peed on me.
He strutted like he owned the van—
That dog still swears he’s is a man
