the distance between us
letter to the moon
Leaving water in a Mason jar
set upon the windowsill
during your full glow.
Charging crystals in the night,
absorbing power from your light,
so I can carry you in my pocket
when life gets too dark to bear.
-
You've seen me in my hardest moments.
Offering company on sleepless nights,
And I have nothing to offer in return.
So I stare instead.
Your never-ending beauty
blinding.
Let it burn into my corneas,
so when I look away
I can still see your grace.
-
Yet,
Every day
you get further away
from the surface,
and eventually
you'll pull away completely,
and all will be lost to time.
-
How sweet it is
to be honored by your presence
during this blip of existence.
I vow to be buried,
With a charged stone in my pocket,
And moon water
dripped over my casket.

I especially love the closing vow; it echoes the bittersweet pull of time, pulling us apart yet binding us in memory. Beautifully done
