The Devil and the Witch

A twisted love poem

The devil and the witch were in cahoots

One day they made a pact

She stomped around him in her witchy boots

And their love became a fact

It wasn't so simple though because

They were not meant to collude

Too much evil begets evil and more evil

And the balance of life comes unskewed

The witch, she laughed and she waved her hand

The devil, he roared and he danced

Around them the trees and the flowers withered

As their evil became enhanced

For the air they inhabitated grew thick and black

As they danced side by side

And their whisperings of love polluted the skies

And all the small animals died

The forces of good diminished and shrank

The sky turned red and black

As the blood of all life ran into the ground

And the corpses began to stack

But the witch soon grew tired, you see

Because deep down, she really did care

About the state of the earth, and nature, and decay

So she made the devil a dare

If he could make good on his love

And rid the world of everything bad

She'd love him passionately forevermore

Even though the boredom would make him mad

Well, as all evil slowly withered away

The witch hoped the devil would be able to stay

But as he was man's embodiment of evil

He sadly had to go away

The witch would have to find somebody good,

With which to play.
