The Demon In The Darkness

A Curtal Sonnet

Art by Scott A. Vancil

A whisper in the air just as I tire.

A being creeping in the shadows there.

A thirst, a hunger for the life in me.

She comes with death or life fore'er: Vampyr.

I feel her touch before I see her stare.

So cold she is with fire I can see

-

For so inside her eyes such life without

A love to share, and so insanity

Doth overtake. Her teeth into me tear,

I give to this old wonder not a bout:

The apple from the tree.

love poems
