The Day You Came Into My Life
An Ode to Man's Best Friend

A sunny July day pervades my mind--
Your squeaky little dumpling body round
Your pink tongue cool like watermelon rind
Pure notes of love and whimpers swirl in sound.
We saw your picture on the rescue site
Not knowing anything except you're ours.
And little did we know about your fight
With hardships, illness brought from higher pow'rs.
You fought the Beast--'twas epilepsy named
With brav'ry boundless as the wide, wide sea
No braver, kinder, lov'lier soul has claimed
My beating heart and taught so much to me.
As man's best friend you are so very true:
Your love's like summer's warmth and morning's dew.
